_The Open Bible Pulpit: Fulfilling Your Mission
Pastor Chuck Jones E-mail Chuck Church of the Open Bible Pomona, California Owning exercise equipment doesn't make you fit. You have to use it. It's similar to being a disciple of Christ. Our mission as a disciple is to make disciples. It's what Jesus expects us to do. He told us to do it, and he knows we can. He'll never leave us, and he says to, "Go." Will you fulfill your mission? Matt. 28:16-19; Eph. 1:15-20
The Power of the Word of God
Pastor Larry Mayberry E-mail Larry Pennellwood Church of God Wyoming, Michigan The things of this world are temporary and fading. We're reminded of that every day. But the Word of God stands forever. No matter how man may try to change it, God's Word, His will, and His way will be known. It's powerful. Do you believe it? Will you use it? Will you listen to it? Heb. 1:1-3; 4:12,13; 2 Kings 5; Isa. 55:11; 40:8,9; 1 Pet. 2:2; Matt. 4:4; 24:14; Prov. 4:20,23; Rom. 1:16,17

_Is There a Life Before Dying?
Pastor E. Richard Smith 1983 Sometimes we become so involved in the things of this life that we forget the real meaning of life. There's so much happening around us that we begin to forget what's really important. Then, we start asking if there really is any meaning to life at all. Do you wonder what the purpose is for your life today? Is there a life before dying? Are you ready to start really living today? Deut. 30:15-20; Psa. 11; 34; 146:4,9; Rom. 6:23; Prov. 11:30,31
_What Lack I Yet?
Pastor Bill Wachtel 1976 In today's message, we consider the words of Jesus to the "rich, young ruler." The young man came seeking eternal life, but he went away sad because he still was lacking one thing. One thing was missing. But what about us? What's missing in our lives? What's unaccomplished? What's been left undone? What would Jesus say to us? Are we giving our lives in complete consecration to him? Are we giving him all of our lives - or just a place in our lives? Mark 10:16-22; Matt. 19:20; Titus 1:5; James 4:17; Rom. 3:23; 1 Thess. 3:9,10; Heb. 4:1,2; 3:19; 12:14,15; 2 Pet. 1:5-9; Rom. 12:1,2

_Giving Your Best
Pastor Mark DeYoung E-mail Mark Blanchard Church of God Blanchard, Michigan What are we called to do in order to get the blessing of God? What does it take? What does God expect? In today's message, we take a different look at tithing as we examine what we give and how we should give. What about you? Are you giving the first? Are you giving your best? Prov. 3:9; 2 Cor. 9:6-8; Luke 6:38
_Unconditional Love
Pastor Michael Hoffman E-mail Michael Oregon Church of God Oregon, Illinois Marriage isn't just a conditional contract, it's a covenant love. It's an unbreakable promise as illustrated by God's covenant love for His covenant children. And in today's message, we're reminded that our relationships are about mutual submission and being concerned about other's needs - not just our own. Deut. 7:6; Eph. 5:21,22,24,25,33; 1 John 4:7-12,19-21

_What if...I Take up Carpentry Work?
Pastor Steve Taylor E-mail Steve Lakeshore Bible Church Tempe, Arizona Holmes on Homes is a television program that involves fixing up homes where builders or contractors have messed up. Sometimes, our lives can get a little messed up too when we don't lay a wise foundation. As God's workers, we must lay the right foundation on the only foundation - Jesus Christ. So how are you building? What are you building? Are you using the right materials? Find out how to start today. 1 Cor. 3:9-17,6; Acts 13; 19:8; 18
_Don't Call me Late for Supper
Pastor Wally Winner E-mail Wally Joy Fellowship 492 Bessie Road, Piedmont, SC Names have meanings and particularly Bible names. Such is the case of the name "Ichabod" in 1 Samuel chapter 4. Literally, Ichabod means "the glory of the Lord is gone or departed." In today's message, we examine 6 reasons why his mother chose this name. But we're also reminded that approximately 1200 years later a mother named her son "Jesus." The name "Jesus" means "Savior, Jehovah Saves," or "Power to save." Which child do you want this day in your life, home and church? 1 Sam. 4:19-22

Are you willing to serve Him no matter what happens? What work has He called you to do? In today's message, we continue our series and look deeper into what it really means to be a disciple of Christ. Matt. 25:14-30; Psa. 78; Col. 2:5; Prov. 24:10; 1 Cor. 10:13; 15:56-58; Rom. 12:2

Dr. Alva G. Huffer The Great Creator has designed our unique planet to be perfectly in balance to preserve and sustain life. Bible Christians believe God is the King of the Universe, infinite in wisdom and power. From the structure of the smallest atom to the movement of the stars, God shows his intelligent purpose and plan for His perfect creation. And guess what? He created you. He knows everything about you. And He wants you to know Him. You're as important in His creation as anything He's ever made. And He has a plan and a purpose for your life through His Son. Who am I?
Pastor E. Richard Smith 1980 The key to being a successful disiciple for Christ isn't in who we are. It's not even in what we do unless we're doing it to bring God glory. That's the key. It's giving God the glory - not us. And as His workers, we need to dedicate our lives to His service. Will you? Dan. 4:28; Exo. 3:8; Isa. 6:1; Acts 17:25; John 20:20; Rom. 7:14,15; 1 Cor. 15; Jude 21-24
The Harvest is Plenteous
Pastor Bill Wachtel 1989 As Jesus looked out at the people in this world, he told his disciples that "the harvest is plenteous," but the "laborers are few." He was right then, and he's still right today. The laborers still are few. In today's study, we're encouraged to have compassion for the lost like Jesus had. We need to prepare and share the good news. But we also need to be praying for more laborers to glean the harvest. Are you? Are you doing the King's business while he's away? _Encouragement for the Discouraged Church
Pastor Mark DeYoung E-mail Mark Blanchard Church of God Blanchard, Michigan The early church in the city of Philadelphia was a church not unlike our own. They were small and oppressed, but they were faithful. As we look at the promises Christ gave these faithful followers, we are reminded that we're his church too, that he'll preserve us through persecution, and like them, we're promised membership in his Kingdom when he returns. Revelation 3:7-13; Matthew 16:19
_A New Direction
Pastor Michael Hoffman E-mail Michael Oregon Church of God Oregon, Illinois Jesus told his followers that it wasn't easy to enter the Kingdom of God. They would need to enter through the small gate. They had to take the narrow way. And there was only one way. In today's message, we're reminded not to follow the crowd, but to follow the Christ. _Famine in the Land
Pastor Bruce Reye E-mail Bruce Chapel Hill Church of God Urbana, Ohio Around 750 B.C. , God called a farmer and shepherd named Amos to be His prophet. God called upon Amos to warn Israel of God's coming judgment if they did not repent. Sadly, the nation of Israel did not heed the warning of Amos, and they were led into captivity. Even in modern times, there is still a "famine in the land." There is a famine of the word of God. God has given us His word to prepare for the time ahead, but few are heeding His warnings. Will you remain captive, or will you help end the famine in the land? Amos 8:11-14,4-6; 6:1-8; 2:6,7; Luke 8:14; Heb. 4:13,14; Prov. 16:16; Rom. 10:17; John 12:48; 1 Pet. 2:2

A SPECIAL CELEBRATION WILL BE HELD SUNDAY, JANUARY 22ND, FROM 4-6 PM AT GUTHRIE GROVE CHURCH OF GOD (403 GUTHRIE GROVE CHURCH ROAD, PELZER, SC, 29669). PLEASE SEND HIM A CARD OR LETTER (IN CARE OF GUTHRIE GROVE CHURCH OF GOD) AS WE HONOR HIS LIFE AND MINISTRY! __If God Be For Us
Pastor Terry Ferrell E-mail Terry Greenville Church of God 217 White Oak Road, Greenville, SC 29605 Abraham defeated several kings and their armies with a company of his own made up entirely of his servants. Over 2 million children of Israel passed through the Red Sea in their escape of the Egyptian army. Joshua defeated the heavily fortified city of Jericho when its walls collapsed. Young David defeated the great giant of the Philistines with just a sling and a stone. These and many more are all great stories and examples of God's people who triumphed with God's help. They encourage us. Listen in to today's message as we are reminded that even when the circumstances look the most difficult, nothing is impossible. We know that when we stand with our God, He will stand for us. 2 Chron. 15:1-9; 14:11-15; Rom. 8:31; 1 Sam. 17; 2 Cor. 11:18; Isa. 55:6-8; Heb. 13:5; Rom. 8:35; Matt. 24; 28:20
_The Three Appearances of Christ

Great New Things, as Planned
Pastor Bill Wachtel God has planned great things for His people. He has planned new things. He's given us a new message of good news. He's given us a new life in His son. He's made us a new creation following our new birth. And He's given us a new hope in a new world under a new order. It's all new. It's all for us. And it's exactly as He planned it. Isa. 42:9; 48:3-7; Matt. 4:23-25; 9:14; Acts 8:4,12; Heb. 10:19; Ezek. 36:26; John 1; 2 Cor. 5:17; Gal. 6:15; Rom. 6:1-4; Eph. 4:22; 1 Pet. 2:2; Acts 17:18,32; Rev. 21:1-3
The Guiding Hand
Pastor E. Richard Smith Though we often don't see it, God is always directing and leading His people like a shepherd guides His sheep. He's always there, but all too frequently, we ignore Him. _Some Things Never Change
Pastor Michael Hoffman E-mail Michael Oregon Church of God Oregon, Illinois Change is constant, but God's word stands forever. It never changes. It's accurate, complete, true, and reliable. It reveals our God to us. It helps us to think like Him. It tells us about His plan. It tells us how we should live. And when we make it a part of our daily lives, we can begin listening to what God wants us to hear. And when we start listening to God, we'll find his unchanging word will start changing us. Isa. 40:8; Psa. 119:1-11; Isa. 55:6-11; Php. 4:8; 2 Tim. 3:16,17; Heb. 4:12,15; James 1:22-25; Rev. 1:3; 2 Pet. 1:20,21; 3:15; Psa. 118:8; 103:1,2
_What if...We Truly Grasped Who We Really Are?
Pastor Steve Taylor E-mail Steve Lakeshore Bible Church Tempe, Arizona The word "if" is loaded with possibilities and potential. It's also conditional. If we want to be Christ's followers, we have certain conditions we have to meet. But once we're his followers, we also have great possibilities and potential for him. All too often, though, we have an identity crisis. We scarcely grasp who we really are. We act like "refugees from the Garden of Eden" instead of citizens of the Kingdom of God. Matt. 16:24-26; 5:5; 2 Cor. 5:17; Gal. 3:29; Gen. 3:7-10; Eph. 1:1-14; Rom. 8:9,1; Acts 2:38; 1 Cor. 3:16; John 1:12; Rom. 5:1; 1 Cor. 6:19,20; Col. 1:13,14; 2 Cor. 1:21,22; Php. 1:6; Eph. 2:6,10; Php. 4:13; Gal. 4:7

_Understanding Why God Saves
Pastor John Railton E-mail John Family Bible Church Granger, Indiana One primary difference between Christianity and most other religions is that most others are based on a series of laws. Most claim you are saved because you become deserving through doing works. But the Bible teaches us that we can only be saved by the grace of God. We can't do enough. But why does God want to save us? What prompted God to design a plan where we would could be saved?
New Year Renewal
Pastor Michael Cisler E-mail Michael North Kent Bible Church Rockford, Michigan As we continue to consider the New Year, we think about the way that God brings newness into our lives. Rather than conforming to the world, we are transformed by renewing our minds. But it doesn't just happen automatically. We have a responsibility to work at being purposeful in renewing our lives for the Lord. _

Pastor Terry Ferrell E-mail Terry Greenville Church of God 217 White Oak Road, Greenville, SC 29605 All over the world every day there are those who are saying that there is no god but theirs. Looking Back to Look Ahead
Pastor E. Richard Smith 12-28-1980 Every year has its gains and losses, but we must "fight the good fight" of faith like the Apostle Paul. We must dedicate our lives to the service of the Lord. But like Paul, sometimes we have to look back to look ahead. Though we may have regrets about yesterday, we must live for Him today so we might live with Him tomorrow. Luke 9:62; 2 Tim. 4:7-10,14; Php. 3:1,7,10,11,13; Rom. 5:8-10; 1 Cor. 9:25

All things are become new for the person who has given their life to Christ, and we can be made new through the work of God in our life. In today's message, as we start the new year, we look at four things the Bible says will be new: 1. a new creation, 2. a new covenant, 3. a new commandment, and 4. a new kingdom. 2 Cor. 5:17; 3:6; Eph. 4:24; Col. 3:10; Rev. 5:9; Psa. 40:1-3; 33:3; 144:9; 149:1; Isa. 42:10; Luke 22:20; 1 Cor. 11:25; Heb. 9:15; John 13:34; 18:36; 2 Pet. 3:13

Pastor Steve Taylor E-mail Steve Lakeshore Bible Church Tempe, Arizona Can you imagine a time where all the nationalities of the world will actually live in harmony?
