Truth Seekers Bible Class: The Effect of Our Hope
Pastor Harold Doan If we truly believe we are nearing the end of this age, we not only should, but will, be preaching the Gospel as a witness to the world. It's our responsibility. And we should seize upon all means to sow God's word, as is the case in today's radio program. It's not just enough to know and understand the Gospel of the Kingdom. We must also share it, comfort with it, and warn others before it's too late. Matt. 24:14; 13:51,52; 1 Thess. 4:18; 5:9,11,14; Ezek. 33:1-7; Amos 3:8; Acts 28:30,31
Jesus Will Return
Pastor Bill Wachtel E-mail Pastor Wachtel Jesus will return. His return is the promised hope of believers. But he's not coming as he did the first time. This time he will come to reward his servants and to restore the earth. If we believe he's coming, we need to live like it. We need to love like it. We need to be about his business. We need to be prepared. We need to be preaching his message. But until he returns, we wait. He is coming. Will he find you watching and waiting? Will you be ready when he comes? Acts 1:1-11; 3:19-21; Matt. 16:21-27; 25:31,14; 24:14,36,42; Rev. 22:20; 1 Cor. 1:4; 15:23; Heb. 9:28; 10:36,37; James 5:7,8; 1 Thess. 3:12,13

David: Giant Size Faith
Pastor Wally Winner E-mail Wally Joy Fellowship 492 Bessie Road, Piedmont, SC As young David went back and forth from his sheep to the Israelite camp where his brothers were preparing for battle, he noticed a giant on the enemy's side. But unlike the rest of the army, he wasn't scared. His life had prepared him. He was faithful, obedient, and responsible in all of the little things, and now he was ready to respond in faith in a big way. What are the "giants" in your life? Are you ready to face them with a giant-sized faith? 1 Samuel 17
Rooting Out Bitterness
Pastor Scott Deane Pleasant Hill Church of God Pleasant Hill, Ohio Over time, bitterness and resentment will gradually rob us of our joy and happiness. And if we continue to let bitterness go unresolved, it will drain our lives away. In today's message, we look at what bitterness is, how it is caused, and how we can prevent it from growing by letting God remove it from our hearts. Hebrews 12:14,15; Matthew 5:8,9

What If - The Most Important is Missing?
Pastor Steve Taylor E-mail Steve Lakeshore Bible Church Tempe, AZ Subscribe to Pastor Steve's Devotions Tune in to Lakeshore's service broadcast every Sunday What if you had a product where you took out the main ingredient? That's how our Christian lives can be when we take out love. Love is essential. We can't take it out. In today's message, we examine what real love is - and what it is not. 1 Cor. 13:1-13; 1 John 4:7,8,18,19; John 3:16
Who Killed Jesus?
Pastor Bruce Reye E-mail Bruce Chapel Hill Church of God Urbana, Ohio We all like to point fingers. No one wants to be blamed. Throughout history, many have been blamed as the cause of Christ's death. But who was really at fault? Who killed Jesus? Was it the Jews? Was it the Romans? Or maybe, is the blame a little closer? Did we cause Jesus to die? If so, how will knowing that fact change you? Will you crucify Jesus again? Matt. 5:43; 27:22-25; 26:26-28; John 18:28; 19:10-34; Luke 23:33,34; Rom. 3:23; Acts 2:36-38; 1 Tim. 2:3-6; 2 Pet. 3:9; Heb. 6:3-6; 1 John 1:9

Abrahamic Faith - Separating and Working Pastor Terry Ferrell E-mail Terry
Greenville Church of God, 217 White Oak Road, Greenville, SC 29605 Faith separates, and faith works. Abraham was separated from his family and his homeland. He believed, so he obeyed, and he lived and grew in faith during his life. And faith still separates today. If we believe, will we obey? Will we follow God wherever He leads? James 2:14-24; Gen. 12:1-3; Josh. 24; Lev. 18:17-19; Deut. 6:4; 1 Kings 18:17-21; 2 Cor. 6:14
The Unwelcome King Pastor Hollis Partlowe
Royalty usually gets special treatment. As Jesus rode into Jerusalem, he was king for the day. But he wouldn't receive an official welcome. Soon the crowds that shouted "Hosanna" would be crying "Crucify him." He was rejected by the very people he came to save. They had waited for the king to come, but they weren't ready for this kind of ruler. Will you be ready when he comes to rule again? Will you give him the rulership of your life today? Zech. 9:9; 13:6,1; 12:10; 8:23; Matt. 21; 23:25-39; 24:1-14; Luke 19:41-48; 21:24; Mark 13:3,4

The Open Bible Pulpit: Hosea - 5-Removing Ancient Landmarks
Pastor Chuck Jones E-mail Chuck Church of the Open Bible Pomona, California In this series by Pastor Chuck, we're examining the prophecy from the book of Hosea (753 - 722 B.C). Though most of the prophecy was written regarding Israel's future, it's also relevant for our learning today. In today's message, we're reminded of how we sometimes try to justify our own sins. But, like property lines, God has set boundaries for us. Will you stay within His guidelines and walk as Jesus walked? Hosea 5; Prov. 19:14; Luke 17; Matt. 5; Eph. 2:2; Rom. 6:4; Gal. 5:16; 1 John 1:6

The Three Ministries of Christ
Pastor S.O. Ross The work of Jesus comes in three parts. In his earthly ministry, he became a sacrifice for all. In his heavenly ministry, he serves as a power-giving mediator. And when he returns, his new earthly ministry will be as a king and ruler. Our salvation is based on all three of his ministries. Is his ministry a part of yours? Heb. 9:22-28; 4:14-16; 13:20,21; John 10:11; 3:16; Gal. 3:26-29; Rom. 8:1,34; 1 Tim. 2:5; Acts 4:12; 1:9-11; 1 Pet. 5:4; Isa. 9:6; Luke 1:30-33
Ambassadors for Christ
Pastor John Denchfield Ambassadors represent and act on behalf their country or king. As followers of Christ, we are a part of a "royal commission" given to us by the King of Kings. Our allegiance and loyalty is to Christ. Like the story of the Hebrew children, we're called on a magnificent mission in "a foreign nation." Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego risked their lives - and were willing to give their lives - to only worship the one true God. Are you ready and willing to do the same? Will the world see who you worship? Will you represent Christ as his ambassador? Daniel 3; 2 Cor. 5:17; Heb. 11; John 9:25; Rev. 13

David: Picking a Winner
Pastor Wally Winner E-mail Wally Joy Fellowship 492 Bessie Road, Piedmont, SC We need to make good choices when it comes to the various people we will partner with in life, whether in marriage, friendship, the church, or in business. But how do we know how to pick a "winner?" In today's study, we examine the account of Samuel's anointing of David and how it illustrates how God can help us to do just that. 1 Sam. 15; 1 Pet. 3:3-5; 2 Cor. 1:21,22; 1 John 2:20
Practical Wisdom
Pastor Scott Deane Pleasant Hill Church of God Pleasant Hill, Ohio For some reason, we often ignore good advice. We'd rather listen to our foolish pride than wisdom's voice. But our decisions have consequences. And when we don't listen to God's wisdom, we can expect the results of our foolishness. But the wisdom of the word of God leads to life, peace, and contentment. Will you listen to God's practical wisdom in today's message? Prov. 1:20-33; 4:14; 5:1; 10:2,3,9,12,18

E Pluribus Unum
Pastor Steve Taylor E-mail Steve Lakeshore Bible Church Tempe, AZ Subscribe to Pastor Steve's Devotions Tune in to Lakeshore's service broadcast every Sunday "E Pluribus Unum" is a phrase found on all U.S. currency. It means, " out of many, one." These meaningful words can also be applied to the prayer Jesus gave for all believers on the night of his betrayal. He wanted his followers then, and down through the ages, to have a relational unity with him and his Father. He wanted us to preserve the unity. And He prayed for us to have a protective unity. Can we say we are truly unified with Christ? John 17:11-21; Gal. 4:4,5; Gen. 2:24; Luke 22:43,44; Psa. 133:1; Eph. 4:3; 1 Pet. 3:8
What is the Christian Life?
Pastor Larry Mayberry E-mail Larry Pennellwood Church of God, Wyoming, Michigan Check out MVP Music with Pastor Larry Tune in to Pennellwood's service broadcast each Sunday What is the "Christian life?" Many don't know because of the some of the poor examples of "Christianity" we read about or see in the news. But those examples in no way represent us all. Jesus, Son of Yahweh Pastor Terry Ferrell E-mail Terry
Greenville Church of God, 217 White Oak Road, Greenville, SC 29605 Yahweh is the only God, and Jesus is his Son, the prophet, priest, and king. It was the answer the Apostle Peter gave. It's the same answer today. It sounds pretty simple, right? But who do we really say Jesus is? We all must answer that question correctly. In today's message, we look at understanding the Sonship of Christ. Matthew 16:13-20
The Gospel According to You Pastor Hollis Partlowe
The importance of each Christian being a good witness and testimony for the Lord cannot be over-empahsized. God's people are expected to manifest His light and love. The growth and development of the church depends on it. It's the only way we can fully accomplish our mission. For some people, the only thing they know about Christianity is what they see in you. And if your life is lived as an example of the gospel, how are you doing? What does the world see? Do people see the good news in you?

What's Your Diagnosis? 1980
Pastor E. Richard Smith Sometimes sickness comes unexpectedly, but other times it comes gradually. We put off a physical ailment and don't get treated until we can't avoid medical care. Then it takes longer to recover, or we might not recover at all. Often, our spiritual lives are the same way. We suffer from spiritual sickness and don't take the necessary steps to fix and prevent our condition. Maybe it's time for a self-diagnosis. Are you spiritually ill? Maybe you need an appointment with the Great Physician before your spiritual illness leads to your spiritual death. Rev. 3:17; Matt. 23:28; Rom. 7:18; Isa. 5:20-23; 3:10,11; 53:5; John 3:16-19; Deut. 28
Jerusalem: City of the Great King 1989
Pastor Bill Wachtel E-mail Pastor Wachtel Throughout the city of Jerusalem's history, it has never been the "city of peace" that its name implies. It has known much warfare and continuous fighting, but God says that Jerusalem will be His "resting place forever." The Bible also tells us that one day it will be a city devoted to the one true God and to worldwide peace. It will even be the capital city of the Kingdom of God. But when? When will His anointed rule? Will the Lion of Judah literally reign from the throne of David in Zion? What can we expect for the future of Jerusalem? Find out today. Dealing with Anger
Pastor Scott Deane Pleasant Hill Church of God Pleasant Hill, Ohio Anger is a basic human emotion. No matter how peaceful we try to be, at some point we will all get angry. It's not always wrong, but often it is. The results of our anger can be damaging and destructive if we're not careful. In today's message, we are challenged to react in a godly way when we're angered to become the people God has created us to be. Eph. 4:26,27,30,31; 6:4; Matt. 5:22; James 1:19

David: The Real Thing
Pastor Wally Winner E-mail Wally Joy Fellowship 492 Bessie Road, Piedmont, SC Many of us pretend to be something we're not. But not King David. David was authentic. David was genuine. David was "the real thing." As we prepare for the upcoming messages on his life, we pause to reflect on why his life is so important to begin with and what we really need to know about him in today's study. 1 Sam. 18:16; Matt. 22:42; 23:23; Luke 6:3; 1 Cor. 10:11

Pastor Steve Taylor E-mail Steve Lakeshore Bible Church Tempe, AZ There are causes for concern all around us. The Middle East is in high tension. Gas prices are high. The economy still looks pretty shaky. But for many, it's just "business as usual." They don't understand what's coming. Approved Unto God Pastor Terry Ferrell E-mail Terry
Greenville Church of God, 217 White Oak Road, Greenville, SC 29605 Our one big aim in life is to be approved of God. To be approved of God, we must know what God says. We must "study to show" ourselves approved. The Bible is our guide, and we must live it out and pass it on. We must be diligent. We must "rightly divide" it. Are you? 2 Timothy 2:1-16; Isaiah 28:9,10; 2 Thessalonians 2
The "House of Many Mansions" Pastor Hollis Partlowe
Jesus told his disciples that his "Father's house" had "many mansions," - or at least that is how it is translated in a popular Bible. But that creates great confusion. Some say that Jesus was talking about "heaven" after death. But within the context, Christ neither mentions "heaven" nor "death." So what exactly was he referring to? In today's message, we examine what he was really saying by looking at how the same words are used throughout the Bible. We also examine what Jesus had to say about the reward of believers. The truth may surprise you. John 14:1-8,23; 4:53; 17:24; Matt. 10:5,6; Luke 1:31-33; 2:4; 19:9; Acts 10:12; 16:27-31; 18:8; 1 Tim. 3:4,5; Heb. 3:5,6; 10:21; 1 Pet. 2:5; 4:17; 1 Cor. 3:16,17; 2 Cor. 6:16; Gal. 6:10; Eph. 2:19; Gen. 7:1; Zech. 14:4; Acts 3:19-21; Rev. 22:3; Dan. 7:13,14; 1 Cor. 15:24

Don't Lower the Standard 1980
Pastor E. Richard Smith No one can build anything that will last with old boards, defective parts, or an improper blueprint. In the same way, we must examine ourselves to make sure we are building our lives with the right materials. We must properly plan and build. The only things that will last are what we are building for our God, and we need to start building today. Will you? Php. 4:8,9; Heb. 11:1,2; 2 Cor. 4:1,2; 13:5; Acts 13:25,33; 2 Tim. 4; Gal. 5:19; 2 Pet. 1:3-8,10; 1 John 3:1-3

Tear-Away Jerseys
Pastor Wally Winner E-mail Wally Joy Fellowship 492 Bessie Road, Piedmont, SC Sin always destroys. It always takes away something. King Saul came to realize that too late. He confessed and repented following his disobedience, but it didn't change what God had already ordered. Saul lost his kingship over Israel and his relationship with Samuel. One act of disobedience destroyed everything. Sin destroys in our lives as well, but we too must be willing to confess and repent. That's the difficult lesson we can learn from Saul's story. 1 Sam. 15:24-31

We can't really understand or appreciate the importance of the sacrifice of Christ, the coming of Christ, or the resurrection unless we have a proper understanding of the nature of man. Pick up a newspaper or turn on the TV. Bible lands are in the news every day. The world's eyes are on the Middle East. The Peace of Jerusalem 1980
Pastor E. Richard Smith The name of Jerusalem literally means the city of peace, but there's no peace today. But why should we even be that concerned with the peace of Jerusalem? What's the formula for peace? What's God's purpose and plan for this city? In today's message, we're reminded why we should pray for its peace while we wait for the Prince of Peace. For there will be no peace in this world until there's peace in Jerusalem. Psa. 122:36; 1 Chron. 11:4-7; Deut. 28; Jer. 39:1,2; 6:14; Zech. 12:1-3; Isa. 2:1; Rev. 21:1; 1 Thess. 5:3
The Challenge of the Gospel 1989
Pastor Bill Wachtel E-mail Pastor Wachtel Many refer to the events of our lives as part of the "rat race," but as followers of Christ, we are living a race of faith. And we will face many challenges along the way. In today's message, we examine the aspects and implications of those Gospel challenges. Will you make the choice? Will you accept the challenge? 2 Tim. 4:7; 3:15; Isa. 64:6; Rom. 3:23; 5:6; Acts 4:12,10; 1 John 1:5-9; 2 Cor. 5:17; Dan. 7; Mark 10:28-30; Rev. 5:9,10; 20:6; 1 Cor. 9:24; Heb. 11:39,40; Php. 3:8-15; Josh. 24:15

_Distractions and Disobedience
Pastor Wally Winner E-mail Wally Joy Fellowship 492 Bessie Road, Piedmont, SC We'd all rather be obeyed than have to obey. Obeying is difficult. Sometimes it seems unreasonable, but we have to remember that God always has our best in mind. We're reminded of that lesson as we examine what King Saul had forgotten. God had given Saul stature and a mission, but he decided to take things into his own hands. But we can't. We have to obey God's voice. We have to obey His call. We have to obey His mission - no matter what. Will you? 1 Sam. 15:17-19
_Israel: Dangerous Problems, Definitive Peace
Pastor Michael Hoffman E-mail Michael Oregon Church of God Oregon, Illinois We hear precious little about Israel in the mainstream media, and what we do hear is often highly slanted against them. But much is happening, and their security and future is being threatened. The world thinks the answer lies in Israel dividing up its land with the Palestinians, but is that really the recipe for peace? What does the Bible have to say? What has God told us about the future of Israel? In today's message, we're reminded to look past the news, and look into the Bible. God has a plan, and it's going to happen exactly as He's told us. Joel 1:15; 2:11-13,28-32; 3:1,2; Amos 7:17; Zeph. 3:8; Psa. 83:1-5,11-18; 40:5; John 16:2; Matt. 24:9; 16:18; Zech. 14:1-11
